AGE GROUPS: The Blue Valley Wrestling Club encourages youth ages 5 to 14 to join. A positive wrestling experience will follow your child into his or her high school years. With the increased interest of girls in wrestling (even separate girls division in many states, colleges and Olympics), our program is also open to girls who have interest in wrestling. Wrestling builds character, pride and discipline.
PRACTICES: Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays in the wrestling room at Blue Valley West High School beginning November 11th. The Monday 7:00pm - 8:30pm practices will be Open to both Novice and advanced wrestlers. You can view the complete practice schedule for days and times on our website calendar.
Novice Wrestlers: 6:00pm – 6:50pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays (and optional to our Monday 7:00pm - 8:30pm practices. We will provide additional information on the novice group at a parent orientation on November 11th . Season runs through February. Novice practices are intended for the wrestlers age 5 through 10 with some exceptions. Younger wrestlers (ages 5-6) might want to consider the Special Novice Program (below) as an option.
Advanced Wrestlers: 7:00pm – 8:30, Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays; Season runs through mid-March (pending on state competition advancement). Middle School age novice will practice with Advanced Group.
PROGRAM FEE: Fees are due upon online registration: $115 for each participating wrestler. Registration fees cover the cost of coaching, facility usage, USA Wrestling membership card and insurance. Parents are welcome to visit our practices before registering as there will be no refunds.
SPECIAL NOVICE PROGRAM (Mini Novice): We will also offer a unique novice program this season for ages 5-6 with practice sessions on Mondays (only) from 6:00pm – 6:50pm beginning November 18th 2nd in the Blue Valley West wrestling room; this program might also be appropriate for some 4 year olds. The cost is only $50 per wrestler for this program.
UNIFORMS: Singlets will be made available for purchase through the club. Novice wrestlers who plan on competing are highly encouraged to purchase a singlet. Wrestlers will also need to purchase wrestling shoes and wrestling headgear.
COMPETITION: Wrestlers compete in tournaments based on their age and weight. There are novice and advanced level tournaments depending on the wrestler’s skill and experience. Tournaments are usually on Saturdays and some Sundays during the months of December, January, February and March. The tournament host wrestling clubs charge an entry fee for the weekend tournaments.
